Two area waste water-treatment facilities and two DuPage County trails advocates have been named recipients of the Conservation Foundation’s annual waterways and trails awards.

The conservation group’s DuPage River Clean Water Awards go to the Wheaton Sanitary District and Citizens Utilities Co. of Illinois for their efforts to keep the waters of the DuPage River watershed clean and healthy. The Wheaton facility discharges into Springbrook Creek, a tributary of the West Branch of the DuPage River; Citizens Utilities discharges into the river’s East Branch in Bolingbrook.

The Paul and Jean Mooring Trails Awards, named after longtime supporters of the Illinois Prairie Path, go to Deborah Fagan, principal planner for the DuPage County Regional Planning Commission, and Nan Newlon, assistant director of the City of Naperville’s Public Works Department, for their trail planning and implementation work.
