Considering the unceasing rhetoric about environmental pollution, why isn’t more pressure applied to restrictions on two-cycle engines?

The Tribune article about jet skis (Metro, May 26) tells us that their operation releases about 2,000 times (my calculation) of hydrocarbon emissions per hour of use versus a 1998 passenger vehicle.

If these data are correct, the 1 million jet skis currently in use emit exhaust equal to 2 billion 1998 cars, per hour! When you add the emissions from millions of lawn mowers and outboard motors, should we not be concerned?
