Richard J. Chambers, 83, of Sarasota, Fla., a former 37-year resident of Barrington, was the retired owner of the former Addison Lighting Co. in Addison and a manufacturer’s representative at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Mr. Chambers, a native of Chicago, died April 23 in Sarasota. He made custom chandeliers from the late 1940s until retiring in 1985. His clients included major Chicago department stores. Mr. Chambers was a longtime member and former treasurer of Northwest Towns Sportsmen’s Club and a founding member of Barrington Sportsmen Unlimited, a hunting and fishing club. “He was an outdoors sportsman,” said his son Richard L. His son said Mr. Chambers cared for his late invalid wife, Dorothy Chambers, for nearly five years before her death in 1996. “He was courageous in the way he cared for her,” said his son. Mr. Chambers was also a 32nd-degree Mason. Other survivors include a son, Fred; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday in Barrington Hills Country Club, 300 W. County Line Rd., Barrington Hills.
