The West Chicago City Council narrowly approved Mayor Steven Lakics’ choice for appointment to the city Planning Commission, with Lakics casting a rare tie-breaking vote late Monday.
The 6-5 vote for Kelly Hardy came amid reservations expressed by several aldermen that Hardy had too little expertise in planning or related fields. Hardy is a librarian and free-lance writer.
