Sister Theota Eversman, 96, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame and a former sewing teacher at Academy of Our Lady High School in Chicago, died Sunday in St. Anthony’s Nursing Home in Crown Point, Ind. Sister Theota entered the order in 1925 and took her final vows in 1933. She taught in various schools for 52 years before settling at Academy of Our Lady in the 1960s. She used sewing as an opportunity to teach students about perseverance and pride in getting the job done right. She stopped teaching in 1975 but continued working odd jobs for the school and took care of elderly residents in their homes. Sister Theota is survived by a sister, Wilhelmina “Minnie” Danielson. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Academy of Our Lady Convent, 9535 S. Loomis St. A funeral mass will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the convent.
