Its credits include such familar landmarks as the Merchandise Mart, the Civic Opera House, the Wrigley Building, the Shedd Aquarium and Union Station – all examples of the “commercial classicism” that symbolizes Chicago’s urban might. This year, the Chicago architectural firm of Graham, Anderson, Probst & White is celebrating its 125th anniversary. In commemoration, the Chicago Architecture Foundation is presenting an exhibition of the firm’s work from 1912 to 1936, when it produced some of its greatest buildings. The exhibition, which includes photographs and sketches, appears at the foundation, 224 S. Michigan, from June 11 to Sept 6. Kicking off the show on June 11 at 6 p.m., historian Sally A. Kitt Chappell, author of a book on the firm, lectures on its early 20th Century glory years. Call 312-922-3432, ext. 239.
