Genevieve E. Gillespie, 93, a longtime resident of Chicago known for her devotion to family, died Thursday in The Moorings of Arlington Heights. Mrs. Gillespie worked for the Chicago Park District for about 30 years, becoming a top bookkeeper before retiring. Her son, Thomas Gillespie, said she was most devoted to her large extended family, most of whom remain in the Chicago area. She was known to her family simply as “Gramms.” Mrs. Gillespie was born and spent much of her life in Chicago. Other survivors include her daughter, Jeanne Horvath; and eight grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd. in Mt. Prospect.
