The Lake Forest Plan Commission on Wednesday night gave a lukewarm response to a preliminary proposal for a mixed-use development on the west side of the city.
The proposal by the Blietz Organization Inc. of Evanston calls for 242 single-family, multifamily and townhouse units to be built on a 22-acre parcel at 1650 Kennedy Rd., north of Illinois Highway 60 and west of Academy Road, near Lake Forest Academy.
The plan also calls for a thin strip of commercial development on the western edge of the property to blend in with the existing Conway Park office development.
The commercial portion of the development could include office space and an assisted-living facility for senior citizens, developers said.
Commissioners raised concerns about access to the development and housing density. They also questioned the desirability of commercial development on the parcel.
No action was taken at the meeting.
