Thomas J. Scoltock, 75, of Des Plaines, a World War II Marine veteran and a repairman for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 25 years, died Monday in Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines. Mr. Scoltock, who was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., served in the South Pacific during World War II and was a 30-year member of the U.S. Naval Reserves. He retired in 1978 from Illinois Bell, where he began as a lineman and later worked out of the Arlington Heights, Des Plaines and Elk Grove Village offices. “His military service was very important to him,” said his son, James. “He loved life. He was extremely active to the end. He went to plays, dances. He loved the outdoors.” Other survivors include a daughter, Carol A. Spanos, and a grandson. A mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church, 794 Pearson St., Des Plaines.
