The Building and Grounds Committee of the Hoffman Estates Park District, in a special meeting Thursday night, voted 3-2 to recommend that the park board approve a revised plan for developing Pine Park.

The revised plan would relocate a proposed free-run dog area and skateboard street course to a site other than Pine Park, which is to be created at Winston Drive and Charleston Lane.

“Concept Plan II” for the 9-acre park includes an area for in-line hockey and ice hockey, soccer practice field, turf baseball field, tot lot, sled hill, sand volleyball court, walking path and mountain bike/cross-country skiing path.

If approved by the park board, the $418,000 plan, which includes lighting for the skating area and sled hill, would be submitted to the Illinois Land Water Conservation Fund for a matching grant. The grant could reimburse the district up to $200,000.

The Pine Park recommendation is to go before the full Park Board on Tuesday.
