The Illinois Commerce Commission has been asked to reopen the question of telephone number pooling by the Citizens Utility Board, which fears that Chicago-area phone companies continue to hoard phone numbers. CUB wants regulators to toughen last month’s order requiring companies to conserve phone numbers to avoid activating another area code for the region.
