With senior citizens and others using the golf carts on city streets, the government has decided to put the motorized buggies in a special class and make them follow certain safety rules.
The new rules, outlined Friday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, include a requirement that the faster carts must have seat belts, turn signals and rearview mirrors.
