Byron Crane Patten, 69, formerly of St. Charles, died Saturday near his home in Ketchum, Idaho. Mr. Patten oversaw the growth and provided the vision for Patten Industries Inc. as president and chairman of the board from 1958 to 1985. He was a second-generation Caterpillar Inc. distributor in northern Illinois and northwest Indiana. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nonanne; three sons, Crane, Tom and Steve; a daughter, Lucinda Ann; and five grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday.
