Final plans for a new section of the Del Webb Sun City retirement complex have been approved by the Huntley Plan Commission and sent to the Village Board.

According to Charlie Enochs, Del Webb’s manager of planning and engineering, 60 homes will be built on the 17.4-acre tract across from the recreation and sales center.

Enochs said the homes will be used as a sales tool and will be made available to qualified buyers for a two-day stay to acquaint them with the Del Webb community and its amenities.

“It’s one of our best marketing tools,” Enochs told the planners.

Potential buyers will be able to spend the two days in one of the homes for $100, he said, which he described as a minimal fee required by law.

Once the rest of the Sun City complex is sold out, he said, the houses would be sold off as single-family homes.
