Wallace J. Wilkalis Sr., 86, of Norwood Park died Wednesday in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Mr. Wilkalis, a Chicago native, began his career with the Chicago Daily News and later became head purchasing agent for the newspaper division of Field Enterprises, then-owner of the Chicago Sun-Times. Mr. Wilkalis retired in 1977 after 51 years in the newspaper business. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Cole; two sons, Wallace Jr. and George; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Thecla Catholic Church, 6725 W. Devon Ave., Chicago.
