President Clinton may have had little to say on the issue, but that won’t stop us. We fairly cringed when we read the “Baptist Faith and Message,” adopted during the Southern Baptist Convention in Salt Lake City earlier this month. Saying they are responding to a breakdown in the American family, representatives of the 16 million member denomination declared that “A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband …” We’ve heard a similar pronouncement before from groups like the Promise Keepers. If this idea catches on … Well, just give it some thought.
