The Rolling Meadows City Council on Tuesday night postponed for two weeks a decision on whether to allow billiard tables and video games at the Club Fever nightclub at 3201 Algonquin Rd.

Neighboring homeowners, meanwhile, said they would continue their petition drive against the request by the restaurant and lounge, which has a history of fights and other disturbances by patrons.

So far, residents said, they have collected more than 110 signatures asking aldermen to deny the request to amend Club Fever’s zoning to allow 5 pool tables, 18 auto-racing and sports video games and coin-operated dart boards.

The Plan Commission last month recommended that the council turn down the request.

Louis J. Gatziolis, owner of Club Fever, asked for permission to install the devices to lure more customers. The council had denied a similar request when Gatziolis opened the restaurant in 1995.

In other action, the City Council waived the first reading and approved an intergovernmental agreement with 20 other communities to help first-time buyers purchase single-family homes.

The program, called the 1998 Collateralized Homebuyer Mortgage Revenue Bond program, will make $1.2 million in mortgage funds available to home buyers within the corporate limits of Rolling Meadows.

The program pays the closing costs and down payments on homes to income-eligible families with good credit ratings but little extra cash. The 30-year fixed-rate loans charge a below-market interest rate.
