The Cleveland Indians traded unhappy slugger Geronimo Berroa to Detroit for a minor-league outfielder, then claimed pitcher Tim Worrell on waivers from the Tigers.

Worrell, 30, takes the roster spot of Berroa, who has been asking for a trade for weeks. Berroa, signed to a $2.2 million, one-year contract before the season, was unhappy with a part-time role.

Worrell was 2-6 with a 5.98 ERA in 15 outings–nine starts–for the Tigers, who acquired him from San Diego in a five-player deal last November. He is 18-29 with a 4.55 ERA in five-plus seasons. The Indians will use him as a long reliever.
