Jerry Malina, 49, an avid softball player and golfer, died Friday in his Westmont home after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Malina was born Dec. 11, 1948 in Oak Park and was raised in Westchester. Through his early years, Mr. Malina was an outstanding baseball player who garnered nearly a dozen trophies for his exploits. He graduated from Proviso West High School and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Mr. Malina resided in Westmont for about 20 years and worked for more than 25 years for Hassert Air Express moving company. He is survived by his mother, Mildred; two sisters, Francine Vincent and Barbara Page; and a brother, Emil. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday in Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst. Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
