Applegate morphs:”Animorphs” author Katherine Applegate has a hot new series,`Making Out” (Avon Books). We picked up Book 1, “Zoey Fools Around.” If you can’t handle romance, you’ll run screaming from this book. But if you’re in touch with your mushy side, you’ll love it. The characters are believable and likable, the plot is intense and smart, and the dialogue is the best of any Young Adult book we’ve read. We want more (good thing, because Book 1 leads straight into Book 2, “Jake Finds Out”).
No Love lost: Smashing Pumpkin Billy Corgan and Hole’s Courtney Love are going at it. No, they’re not dating again – they’re fighting. Corgan reportedly is taking major credit for Hole’s upcoming album, Celebrity Skin. “There would not be a new Hole album if not for me,” he has been quoted as modestly saying. Love’s reply? Not so fast, bud. She told USA Today that Billy co-wrote five songs, but that all the lyrics are hers. She praised her ex-love for “mentoring,” but called his claims silly and sexist.
Maybe tomorrow, Mom: If your folks try to drag you to the rereleased “Gone With the Wind,” don’t fight it. We bet you’ll love the classic flick; they don’t make G-rated movies like this anymore.
