Helen M. Meyer, 93, of Monroe, Wis., and formerly of Woodstock, died Sunday in her home. A native of Hebron Township, she attended Eau Claire State Normal College in Wisconsin, receiving a teaching certificate in 1923, a year after marrying Lawrence Edward “Shorty” Meyer in Hebron. She taught school in Valley Junction, Wis., and Greenwood, Ill. She and her husband lived in Woodstock for 12 years before moving to Boone County, where they farmed for 12 years, and later to Marengo. After the death of her husband in 1987, she moved with her daughter to Monroe. Survivors include two sons, Lawrence and Eugene; a daughter, Vivian Church; a sister, Leone Kniebusch; eight grandchildren; and 14-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday in McHenry County Memorial Park Chapel, 11301 Lake St., Woodstock, followed immediately by services in the chapel.
