Jacob Jack Marks, 85, of Palo Alto, Calif., formerly of Chicago, died Sunday in Palo Alto. Mr. Marks was born and raised in Chicago. He was a social studies teacher at Sequoia High School in Redwood City, Calif., from 1947 to 1978. He served as union president of the Mid-Peninsula Chapter of the American Federation of Teachers and helped form an organization called Citizens Against Racism. He later taught at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass. Mr. Marks served in the medical corps during World War II. Survivors include a son, Laurence; a daughter, Sharon Marks; and a brother, Aaron. A service will be held Saturday in Redwood City.
