Edward Singer, 98, a former Chicago resident and retired owner of a plastics manufacturing company, died Thursday in Attic Angel Nursing Home in Madison, Wis. He founded Victory Manufacturing Co. on the West Side of Chicago in the late 1930s. After his retirement in 1962, he began a second career in real estate. Mr. Singer was recognized for his volunteer work and philanthropy, receiving awards from the Chicago Jewish Federation, United Way and the Service Corps of Retired Executives. His endowments included the Edward & Honora Singer Pavilion at Michael Reese Hospital and the Edward & Honora Singer Transitional Home in Chicago. He is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Tobias; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Chicago Sinai Congregation, 15 W. Delaware Pl., Chicago.
