Karla and Jeffrey Jansen were ready to give up attempting to have a second child after suffering two miscarriages and trying a slew of fertility drugs.
After one more fertility treatment, Mrs. Jansen gave birth Tuesday to three boys and two girls, doctors announced Wednesday.
The three boys and two girls developed from five separate eggs, doctors believe. Their weights ranged from 2 pounds 5 ounces to 3 pounds 13 ounces.
Although born about 10 weeks premature, none needed breathing assistance from a ventilator or oxygen, said officials at Nebraska Health System’s University Hospital.
