Paul M. Adler, 88, of Wilmette, a retired Sears, Roebuck and Co. executive and a longtime community volunteer, died Saturday in Hospice of the North Shore in Evanston. He worked for Sears for 38 years. His volunteer work included the American Cancer Society, Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic, the Northwestern University archaeology program, the Chicago Historical Society and the Field Museum. In 1984, Mr. Adler was named North Shore magazine’s volunteer of the year. A Chicago native, he was a graduate of the University of Chicago. He was a stamp collector since childhood. Mr. Adler is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosalyn; a daughter, Margot Wallace; a son, Jim; and a sister, Ruth Grannis.
