Ruth E. Zimmerman, 78, of Arlington Heights died Sunday in Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights. Mrs. Zimmerman was born in 1920 in Sidney, Ohio. For many years, she was a eucharistic minister and a minister of care at St. Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. “She was a very, very nice person, very gregarious,” said Sister Virginia Thoennes of St. Edna Church. “Her death is a great loss to us.” In addition to visiting the sick, Mrs. Zimmerman volunteered in the gift shop at Northwest Community Healthcare. Survivors include four sons, George, William, Joseph A. and Robert G.; and four daughters, Emily A. Davis, Katherin I. Kuhn, Martie E. Salemi and H. Reeny Lindstrom. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd.
