Doris R. Benedict, 84, died Sunday in her home in Wilmette. A longtime resident of Wilmette and the Edgewater neighborhood in Chicago, Mrs. Benedict taught at several public schools for the Chicago Board of Education, including Armstrong Elementary School. She was a graduate of Rosary College in River Forest. Survivors include her husband, Louis; two sons, Thomas and Michael; three daughters, Julianne Derken, Nancy Maguire and Mary Jo Kelly; a brother; four sisters; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd., Skokie. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1747 W. Lake Ave., Wilmette.
