The Carol Stream Plan Commission has delayed by two weeks a public hearing on a revised plan for a package-sorting facility in the southwest section of town.
RPS Inc. asked for the delay because of scheduling conflicts. A letter faxed Monday from Dean Kelley at Abbott Land & Investment, the project’s developer, to Joanne Gugliotta, the village’s community development director, did not elaborate.
Another hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. July 27 at Village Hall.
RPS, a subsidiary of Federal Express, wanted to introduce a revised project that would reduce noise by building higher and longer berms and adding acoustical fencing and deeper setbacks.
Noise was a key issue that has concerned neighbors of the proposed terminal, near Gary Avenue and St. Charles Road, since February.
