For longer than we care to remember, the stereotype has held that women are, well, more talkative than men. Not in every arena it seems. In law school women seem less inclined to speak up, says a study by Northwestern University Law School professor Elizabeth Mertz. The three-year study shows that women law students apparently are more hesitant to pose questions, make comments or respond to male professors. Furthermore, at the top-tier schools, women students do not speak up even in classes taught by female professors, the study shows.
