– Please settle an argument. Has Glenn Close ever done a TV series?
No, but the film and stage star has made several TV movies. Among them are “Sarah, Plain and Tall” and its sequel “Skylark,” “Stones for Ibarra,” and the Barbra Streisand-produced “Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story.” Her most recent television effort was “In the Gloaming,” last year’s HBO drama that marked the directorial debut of Christopher Reeve.
– Is the show “Teen Angel” still going to be on next year?
Enjoy ABC’s current Friday night run of the series, since it will be gone come fall. The comedy is getting a lame-duck run right now, having been taken off at mid-season. Original cast member Maureen McCormick (alias Marcia on “The Brady Bunch”) evidently knew that a long stay wasn’t in the cards for the program, since she left it even before ABC decided to take it off.
– A while ago, there was a show on CBS called “Christy.” Is there any way I can get the episodes on tape?
The easiest way is to tape them from The Family Channel, which currently runs the drama series on Sundays and weekday mornings. In fact, this Sunday, the first half of the pilot episode is slated to be shown. That pilot also is available in full on videocassette for purchase. Title star Kellie Martin will return to series work this fall, as she joins the cast of NBC’s hit medical drama “ER.”
– I’ve heard that a couple of other well-known actors were approached about playing the lead attorney in the last season of “Murder One,” before Anthony LaPaglia was hired. Do you know who they were?
Reportedly, executive producer Steven Bochco was serious about recruiting either Alan Alda or Danny Glover to join the ABC drama’s cast after Daniel Benzali left. Whatever degree those conversations reached, they obviously didn’t work out, and LaPaglia made “Murder One” his first TV series when he got the job.
