Leonard Briney Clore, 67, a Downers Grove resident for 42 years, died Friday in Snake Springs Township, Pa.

Born in Moberly, Mo., Mr. Clore was a retired school administrator in Midlothian. After his retirement, he took a part-time position as the assistant to the Cicero Grade School District business manager. Mr. Clore also taught 8th grade and was assistant principal of Haley School in Stickney.

A 1952 graduate of Culver Stockton College in Canton, Mo., Mr. Clore also attended Northern Illinois University, where he received a master’s degree in 1962.

During the Korean War, Mr. Clore served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 80, Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, the Elks Club and the Memorial Foundation of the Germanna Colonies in Culpeper, Va.

Mr. Clore also actively volunteered in the credit union movement, serving on the board of directors of School District 143 Employees’ Federal Credit Union and the Southwest Chapter of Credit Unions.

Survivors include his wife Constance; a son, Briney Lee; three daughters, Gwen Marie, Gail Lynn and Zola Ann Smith; a sister; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Clore will lie state from 10 a.m. until services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove, 1032 Maple Ave.
