As a proud student at the University of Notre Dame, I feel it is necessary to shed light from a student perspective on the recent legal situation involving former offensive line coach Joe Moore’s age-discrimination suit against the university. This story has been covered with an extreme bias against ND. A verdict has been reached in this case, and that is where it should end. In no way should this incident reflect poorly on the university as a whole.
Notre Dame maintains its superior status as a top-ranked university, providing an environment promoting academic endeavors, service opportunities and athletic activities. How is it that these incredible opportunities are suddenly overshadowed in light of this recent controversy?
Papers report that ND’s reputation is fading. What the media fail to realize is the strength of the Notre Dame family, especially the loyalty and support of the students. We faithfully stand by our university, our administration, our football team and our coaches. The Dome will continue to shine brightly as Notre Dame’s spirit and tradition live on.
