The Aurora City Council Finance Committee has recommended paying $425,000 to add storm sewers on the west side.
If the measure is approved by the full council, J&S Construction of Oswego would be paid to install the sewers, which are expected to alleviate basement flooding in the area.
“It’s an area with chronic problems,” said Peter J. Haurykiewicz, city engineer.
The sewers would be along Kensington Place between Rosedale and Western Avenues, along Westlawn Avenue between Kensington and Marseillaise Place and along Western between Marseillaise and Southlawn Place.
