A 28-year-old Hanover Park man drowned at a Schaumburg residence Monday evening while he was apparently cleaning a back-yard swimming pool, police said.
Schaumburg police identified the man as Carlos E. Riley of the 6300 block of Church Street. The incident occurred in the 0-100 block of Shore Drive while Riley was doing some work for a Schaumburg homeowner, police said.
Riley was cleaning the pool to earn some extra money, according to authorities. The man arrived at the house at about 5 p.m., police said.
At about 8 p.m., a maid saw Riley’s body floating in the pool. The homeowner pulled the man’s body out of the pool and attempted to revive him.
Riley died at about 10 p.m. at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.
