I read with horror, grief and disgust the description of the consequences of yet another act of appalling violence in Northern Ireland, and I have some simple words for the perpetrators: You are cowards. You are filthy, murderous thugs, the lowest of the low, killers of children.
Protestant or Catholic, it makes no difference; you are not Christians, nor even human beings. When will you and others like you learn that you can never terrorize your enemies into acceding to your wishes? All that such despicable attacks can ever lead to is the perpetration of a brutal, bloody and seemingly endless national tragedy.
In response to this attack, some hothead will attempt a “reprisal,” and more innocents will suffer. Are you all mad and evil, or simply, blindly, incomprehensibly stupid?
The bitter irony of all of this is that you do it all in the name of religion. What God do you pray to who condones murder?
