Chicago’s Fast Track demolition program would be expanded under a new proposal by the city’s Buildings Department, officials announced Thursday.
Currently, with due notice, the city can raze vacant and open residential buildings of one or two stories that are deemed hazardous. The new measure would permit demolition of three-story structures and would cover industrial as well as residential properties.
The proposal is expected to be considered by the City Council’s Buildings Committee next week.
