Lois Brickman, 71, longtime Chicago artist, died Monday in North Ridge Medical Center, Ft. Lauderdale. Born in Detroit, Mrs. Brickman attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit. She was a resident of Chicago and Highland Park, where she was a member of the North Shore Art League. Mrs. Brickman’s bronze sculptures received many awards and were on exhibit at the Art Sales and Rental Gallery of the Art Institute of Chicago. “She was one of the first women to work in the lost wax process,” said her husband, Paul. The process involved working the original design in wax and having it cast in bronze, he said. She worked out of her studio in Winnetka. For many years, she was a volunteer at the Highland Park Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Paul; two sons, Jeffrey and James; a granddaughter; and a sister. Services were held Tuesday in New York.
