Two homes are available for immediate occupancy at Cedar Crossing, a semi-custom community of 310 single-family homes being developed by Buschman Homes in far north suburban Lake Villa.

The 2,540-square-foot Tremont features a contemporary brick and Dryvit exterior facade. Inside, the two-story home has four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. It is priced at $259,311 and includes a two-story foyer with red oak flooring, and walkout basement.

The two-story Summerhill, with 2,446 square feet, also has four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. It includes a family room, den and walkout basement, and is priced at $240,306.

Both homes have a fireplace, central air conditioning, alarm system, deck, landscaping package and patio.

Cedar Crossing offers 10 floor plans in two series. Designs in the Arbor Series range from 1,305 to 1,765 square feet and are priced from $144,900. The Premier Series’ plans range from 1,930 to 3,030 square feet and are priced from $170,990. Five models are open.

– D.R. Horton Custom Homes has opened an on-site sales center at Heron Landing At Valley Lakes in north suburban Round Lake, a neighborhood of 80 single-family homes in an 865-acre master planned community being developed by Penguin Group LP.

Nine floor plans feature 1,570 to 2,270 square feet with three or four bedrooms, and 2 1/2 baths. They are priced from $156,900 to $187,900.

Amenities include volume ceilings, basements (with walkout and lookout options on some sites) and large windows along rear walls to maximize views. Dens or lofts and center islands and breakfast bars in kitchens are offered, depending on plan.

Home sites will feature parkway trees and foundation plantings such as bushes, shrubs and ornamental trees, along with concrete walks. Front yards will be sodded, while side and rear yards will be seeded. Exteriors feature vinyl siding, aluminum fascia and soffits, and cedar trim.

The community will have more than 450 acres of parks, lakes, woodlands and open space. Nearly 280 acres of wetlands will be preserved and a heron rookery will remain in the central part of the development. Many home sites back up to open space and environmental protection areas.

D.R. Horton plans to open four display models in September.

– Sales are under way on the final 30-unit phase of condominiums at Vanguard Lofts, 1250 W. Van Buren St., in the West Loop Gate neighborhood on Chicago’s Near West Side.

Vanguard Lofts, a Rezmar Development community, includes one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus den and two-bedroom residences priced from $126,990 to $221,990.

The lofts have one or two baths and 758 to 1,272 square feet. A decorated model is open for viewing with a second model scheduled to open in early August. It will feature two bedrooms, two baths and 1,272 square feet.

The great room includes a fireplace and sliding-glass doors leading to a balcony. The master bedroom features a private bath, walk-in closet and optional private balcony.

Vanguard Lofts will have parking for 107 cars, including seven guest spaces. Indoor secured garage spaces are priced from $15,000. Individual storage lockers are standard.

Loft features include wood columns, ceilings and floors, exposed brick walls and ductwork, wood doors and trim, new windows and fireplaces.

– Sales are under way at Capitol Hill, a Chicago Urban Properties community to include 91 lofts at 625 W. Jackson Blvd. in Chicago.

One-bedroom plans are priced from $111,000; two-bedroom designs, from $163,000; and three-bedrooms, from $274,000.

The building’s first floor will feature convenience stores and services. Other amenities include an exercise room, common roof deck, storage lockers and bicycle storage.

Homes feature wood ceilings, columns and beams with exposed spiral ductwork, oak floors in foyers, kitchens and dens per plan, kitchens with track lighting, soaking tubs in master baths and separate glass-enclosed showers, washer/dryer hook-ups, and individually controlled heating and cooling systems.

– Phase two sales are under way at Briargate, a Ryland Homes community of 204 town homes in far north suburban Grayslake.

Prices range from $113,990 to $130,990 in phase one, and from $114,990 to $131,990 in phase two. Three decorated models are open for viewing.

About 42 town homes overlooking woods or a 40-acre nature preserve and wetland area remain for sale.

For a limited time, Ryland Homes is offering to pay five points plus provide free central air conditioning for buyers who finance through Ryland Mortgage.

The five available floor plans range from 1,200 to 1,436 square feet with two or three bedrooms, 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 baths, and attached garages.
