The Batavia Plan Commission will resume a public hearing this week on whether to allow alfresco dining next summer at the Cafe Bari restaurant.
The restaurant’s owners want to add a 14-by-25-foot screened canopy outdoor partition to the north side of Cafe Bari, across the street and south of the entrance of the Riverwalk scheduled for completion this fall.
But the possibility of outside diners being too near the path of delivery trucks coming around the corner entering or exiting the mall from the service driveway worried commission members after the restaurant’s request was presented last month by Linda Stuart and H.D. McCormick of Grate Signs, a Joliet-based firm hired by the restaurant to create the outdoor area.
