Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Some steamy afternoon, Tribune photographer Charles Osgood and I will meet outside the Tribune Tower. It will be our intention to take a walk.

We won’t be planning to head in any particular direction. We are just going to take a walk. I will carry a notebook and two pens, and Osgood will carry some cameras. We will be determined to return to the paper later in the day with a story.

What sort of story? That will be the joy and terror of this experiment.

The idea is to use this space to bring you an interesting story each week, a story about people and places, about the way the city lives and plays and works.

So, Osgood and I will take this walk and the collaborative results should appear some Sunday very soon on this page.

Of course, as I write this, Osgood and I have yet to take that first walk and so we have no idea if our idea will work and, if it does, how well.

Osgood is a great photographer and perhaps he will snap a shot that one Sunday fills this entire space. More likely, the page will be a mix of photos and words, in that grand newspaper tradition.

We know there are great stories to be mined in the city sidewalks (and suburban lawns). So, we’ll walk, and you keep turning here on Sundays to see what we find.
