For those wondering whether Mike Tyson had learned anything, anything at all, in the 13 months since he gnawed off hunks of Evander Holyfield’s ears, Tyson provided the answer last week. He provided the answer by asking a question: “Why do I got to go through this . . . (expletive) all the time?” In other words, he hasn’t learned a thing. In other words, he still doesn’t get it. In other words, he continues to think that life comes without consequences, that having been heavyweight champion of the world grants him a form of perpetual immunity from accountability and responsibility. In other words, he still thinks all these pesky annoyances that keep cluttering up his life–the rape, the assaults, the ear buffet–should just be made to go away magically.
