Robert O. Parks, an art scholar and museum director, died Thursday in University of Chicago Hospital. Mr. Parks studied and was an art instructor at the John Herron Art School, now part of Indiana University. He served as curator of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, director of the Smith College Museum of Art and professor of art history there, curator of collections at the Ringling Museum of Art and director of the Museum of the University of New Mexico, where he was also a professor of art history. Mr. Parks is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Cromer Parks; two daughters, Ellen Parks and Catherine Kasriel; a brother, C. Evan; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Aug. 12 in Montgomery Place, 5550 South Shore Drive.
