I read John Kass’ column (News, July 28) concerning the mistreatment of Glenn Poshard by his Republican rival, George Ryan. Is Kass surprised that political contests are tough? Is this his first brush with the political games that have been played for the past 100 years?
It sounds like Glenn Poshard is weak and has no idea how to fight back or to put forth his own campaign. Instead, his recourse is to run behind the skirts of John Kass, who feels impelled to be his protector from the big, bad political wolves.
I suggest that if Poshard isn’t strong enough to withstand the normal toughness that is part of political campaigning–on both sides–then he ought to get out of the political arena.
