The Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore can dust off much of its renowned Egyptian art collection, thanks to an award of $325,270 from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The award, to be used for the reinstallation of the collection in the wing known as the 1974 Building, which is undergoing an $18.5 million renovation, will provide display space for artifacts not seen since the early part of the century.

The new space will leave visitors with the sense of being transported back 5,000 years to an ancient Egyptian temple, a museum spokesman said. But time travelers must wait: The wing won’t reopen until 2001.
