Sam Rothbart, 83, a Northbrook resident and real estate developer who helped lay the foundation of many western suburbs, died at his home Thursday. Mr. Rothbart, a native of Humboldt Park and graduate of Tuley High School on the West Side, started his business career in the garment industry, running Juliette Frocks at 325 W. Jackson Blvd. from the early 1940s until 1955. For the next 30 years, Mr. Rothbart oversaw commercial and industrial projects that proved instrumental in the incorporation of such villages as Woodridge and Addison in DuPage County, said his son Michael Rothbart. Mr. Rothbart gave to many charitable organizations, including the Jewish United Fund, Israel Bonds and Northwest Home for the Aged. Other survivors include his wife, Shirley; two other sons, Gary Rothbart and Mark Sacks; two daughters, Myrna Schack and Pam Sacks; a sister, Sharon Kaplan; and nine great-grandchildren. A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in The Piser Chapel, 9200 N. Skokie Blvd., Skokie.
