A proposed residential development in Romeoville would offer open space and tax revenue for the village but might be too densely populated, said Mayor Fred Dewald.

Dave Johnson, vice president of Neumann Homes, said the WesGlen subdivision, planned for 260 acres between the company’s WesLake and WesPark subdivisions, would include single-family homes and town homes, along with park land, a pool and tennis courts.

The company said it will offer the Valley View School District a 10-acre elementary school site next to a proposed park.

He said the average lot size in WesGlen would be 7,905 square feet, which is close to the 8,000 square feet required in the city’s comprehensive plan.

“There are some pluses there,” Dewald said last week of the WesGlen proposal, but density could be a problem.

The Village Board “would like lower density rather than higher density,” he said.
