John V. Williams, 72, a longtime electrician for Marshall Field’s, died Thursday in Elmhurst Memorial Hospital of cancer. As the head electrician at the State Street store, Mr. Williams played an integral role in setting up its famous window displays during the Christmas season. “That was the highlight of his career,” said his son, Keith. Mr. Williams also worked as an eletrician at Olson Rugs and during World War II, for the Burlington Railroad. He worked for more than 30 years as an electrician, retiring in 1990. A novice bird-watcher, Mr. Williams enjoyed hiking and the outdoors. Other survivors include his wife, Helen; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Grace Lutheran Church, Princeton Avenue and St. Charles Road, Villa Park.
