How to keep track of your baby in the hospital? Keep the baby with the mother!

It sounds too easy, simple and cost-effective to work, but there are many reasons to keep a newborn with his mother from the time of birth to checkout. The mother and baby get to know each other, they bond and they are able to work out their breast-feeding relationship as often as they wish.

When I gave birth to my daughter three years ago, she was not sent to the nursery but stayed with me, in my bed, for almost the entire stay. The nurses shook their heads and smiled, and a technician thought she should lecture me. At midnight when they wanted to take the baby away for tests, I said for them to let me know when they needed her and I would bring her.

Unless they are very ill, mothers really are the best guardians of their children.
