The Huntley Plan Commission voted 3-1 Monday night to reject a concept plan for the Wesbrook Country Club subdivision, proposed for Main Street and Coyne Station Road.

The 413-acre tract would be developed with a dozen neighborhoods containing about 100 homes each and situated around a lake and park and recreational facilities, said Kevin Crowe, director of planning for Neumann Homes.

Neumann is seeking a planned unit development designation for the tract to permit building homes on lots smaller than the village’s current 10,000 square-foot minimum. Various studies, Crowe said, “tell us that homeowners don’t want large lots; they want low maintenance.”

However, Commissioner Dennis Shamhart insisted that any plan meet the 10,000 square-foot minimum.
