Popsicle, anyone? After a bunch of invitations, KidNews recently decided to visit the kids at the Stone Academy summer school, helping them beat the heat with some cool treats. We were invited by Mrs. Below’s 1st-grade class (right), and after we hung out with them, we went to check out Mr. Nelson’s 5th- and 6th-grade art class (below).

Mr. Nelson’s kids were working on a project based on the Jolly Ball exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry.

“We use computers and make models -it’s so cool,” said Lauren P., 11.

After designing their ideas on computer, they each built a different part of the exhibit. We saw them in their painting phase.

“It’s fun. Our hands get all icky because of the glue and paint stuff,” said Swaleh M., 12. Added Justin P., 11: “Yeah, no offense to Ms. Johnson, but this is my favorite class.”

And the popsicles totally added to the fun atmosphere of the day -even if they were a little melted!
